Body in tree still a mystery to police. Police thought they had identified the corpse, but the man they thought it was turned out to be alive.
Forensic officials said they aren’t giving up hope that even the smallest piece of information will help determine who he was.
Utility workers installing fiber-optic lines found the body on Aug. 2. It’s not known how he got in the tree.
“We don’t have a whole lot to go on right now,” Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said.
All authorities know is that the man died of blunt-force injuries and had been in the tree about two weeks. That would mean he had been missing since at least mid-July.
Hargrove said the man was white, 5-foot-6 and weighed about 150 pounds. He had black hair, long on top, but short on the sides. He was wearing bluejeans and white socks but no shirt.
