Saints sign defender Ninkovich

The New Orleans Saints and their fifth-round pick, defensive end Rob Ninkovich, agreed to terms on a three-year contract Tuesday.

Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis, who announced the signing, did not disclose how much Ninkovich will be paid.

Ninkovich, the 135th pick overall in April’s draft, had 16 career sacks at Purdue and was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior. In his two seasons with the Boilermakers, he compiled 71 tackles (55 solo), two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pair of interceptions
