Local resident pleads guilty to child porn charge

Local Mississippi resident recently pled guilty to a child pornography charge.
Adam Bennett of Picayune pled guilty on June 1 to five counts of possession of child porn.
Circuit Court Judge Michael R. Eubanks sentenced Bennett to serve two years day with no chance of parol, a release from Jim Hood’s office states. Bennett will also have to undergo a five-year supervised probation, the release states. Bennett will receive counseling, be required to register as a sex offender upon his release, forfeit his computer to the Attorney General’s office and pay court costs plus a fine of $1,000 and an additional fine of $1,000 to the Victims Compensation Fund, the release states.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Attorney General’s Office.
“I would just like to thank Jean Vaughn, the director of our Cyber Crime Unit, and all of our investigators for their hard work making sure our children are a little bit safer,” Hood said.
