She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, their spouses, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was the former secretary to Mr. O. Perry Walker and a homemaker. She was a graduate of Francis T. Nicholls High School and attended Soule’ College. For many years she volunteered as a secretary and worker for various churches including St. Robert Bellarmine and Annunciation Churches and worked with the elderly at the Chateau De Notre Dame. She was a devout parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Maurice Churches. Her home was always open to the neighborhood kids who called her “Martha” after a mispronunciation she never lived down, but embraced as endearing. She was the center of her home and family and she passed on her qualities of love, charity and devotion to those she touched. “Mawzie” sadly leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren but is reunited with her “Honey” as the best Father’s Day gift he could receive. She will be sadly missed.

The family is so thankful to have had wonderful
ladies, Virginia Purvas and Lugene Martin, as caregivers,
who showed love and respect and made it possible to fulfill her wish to remain at home, as well as Sarah and Diedra of Forest Home Hospice. To you we extend our deepest gratitude.

In lieu of flowers: Mass Intentions, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Catholic Charities.
