Highland Community Hospital is partnering with Masquerade Fundraising next week to sell affordable jewelry and accessories in order to raise money for the hospital.

Every six months, the hospital hosts the two-day event in conjunction with the fundraising company, which helps hospital auxiliaries nationwide raise money by selling a variety of fashionable accessories.

The hospital’s fall fundraiser will be held on Oct. 15 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Oct. 16 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the main lobby.

The hospital’s Volunteer Coordinator Brenda Borland said the proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the hospital’s various departments.

“It’s part of the volunteer services program and the proceeds go back to the hospital. Each department gives us a list of items they need in their department and then we determine what we’ll get after the fundraiser,” Borland said.

After their successful spring fundraiser this past March, they were able to purchase coloring books for the hospital’s pediatric unit and donate money to the Puttin’ on the Pink foundation, which raises money to provide support for people in Pearl River County battling breast cancer, Borland said.

This will be the third time the hospital is hosting the fundraiser.

Last year, the hospital raised more than $10,000 during the spring and fall fundraiser, Borland said. They were able to purchase educational tools for nurses in the hospital’s labor and delivery department and CPR equipment for the education department.

The items available for purchase include jewelry, purses and other accessories, all of which are $5 each.

Borland said the event will be a great time for local residents to purchase holiday gifts.

“The community has been very supportive and we’re very appreciative,” Borland said.

The proceeds will benefit the volunteer services of Highland Community Hospital.

Cash, credit or debit cards and payroll deduction are all acceptable forms of payment.

The hospital is located at 130 Highland Parkway.
