Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 12 noon at Harts Chapel Baptist Church.  Rev. K. Martin Thomas will officiate. Rev. George Tillman, Pastor.
Barbara Ann (Phillips) Tillman was born November 5, 1945 in Wiggins, MS, to the late Reverend Elijah Phillips and Mary Lillie (John) Phillips.
Sister Tillman left her earthly home and went to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 10, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, Elijah Phillips, mother, Mary Lillie Phillips, Elijah John, Lester Earl Phillips, Ulysses Roy, Walter David, and Evelyn Lynn Phillips.
Sister Tillman was a graduate of Todd Memorial High School in 1963. She completed her associates degree in early childhood education at Pearl River Junior College.
Sister Tillman, as a young girl, joined Triumph Missionary Baptist Church, Poplarville, MS and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Joe Beck. She participated in many auxiliaries and choirs at a young age. Following her marriage to George R Tillman she joined New Hebron Baptist Church, Carriere, MS. While there, she was a sunday school teacher, junior mission board member, senior mission board member, choir member, and served on many committees. After the call to leadership, she joined Harts Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, as the “First Lady”, where she served and labored until she was called home.
On May 20, 1965, Barbara married the love of her life, George R Tillman. To this union they were blessed with a girl and four boys; Dushone (Jonathan) Robertson; Warner Robins, GA, Gerald (Denise) Tillman; Clinton, MD, Cedric (Yolando) Tillman; Vicksburg, MS, Dr. Raphael (Charlotte) Tillman; Lacombe, LA, and John (Cynthia) Peters; Hattiesburg, MS. She was blessed with nine grandchildren; Brandon, Jonathan II, Hackeem, Justice, Justin, Tacarra, Tramel (BJ), Diamond and Chassidy and one great grandchild; Kymera. She was blessed with four God children; Terrance, Morgan, Latric (Toy), and Colondra (Co-Co).
Left to mourn her passing are her sisters and brothers; Dorothy (George) Lewis; Las Vegas, NV; Reverend Frank (Barbara) Phillips; Riverside, CA; Carolyn Barnes; Poplarville, MS; Margo (Robert) Porter; Picayune, MS; Betty (Buford) Durr; Franklinton, LA; Burnetta (Gordon) Travis; Gulfport, MS; Wanda (Gerald) Bradshaw; Gulfport, MS; Tina (Oliver) Travis; Gulfport, MS. She also leaves behind two sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law; Jimmy (Ellen) Tillman, Queen Ewing, Odessa (John) Burns and a host of nieces, nephews, and Christian friends.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon prior to service time.
Internment will be held in the New Hebron Church Cemetery, Carriere, MS
