Thomas “Doug” Mitchell

Funeral services for Thomas “Doug” Mitchell, 69, of Ceasar Community, who passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Gipson Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Bro. Cedric Lumpkin will officiate the service.

A native of Ceaser Community, he was a Corrections Officer with the Pearl River County Sheriff’’s Department and a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. Doug’s greatest past time was hanging out at Hilda’s Truck Stop. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be truly missed.

The family would like to personally thank the caretakers and nurses at the Picayune Convalescent Home for all of their years of care and companionship to our father and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis J. Mitchell and Cora Bilbo Mitchell.

Survivors include: his children, Becky Lambert and husband Robert, Gwen McArthur, and Thomas Mitchell and wife Kumi; six grandchildren, Anthony, Alexis, Logan, Alona, Doug, and Jacob; his brothers, Hollis “Shot” O. Mitchell, Carley L. Mitchell, and Donnie O. Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
