Police investigating Yazoo City murder

YAZOO CITY (AP) — Police are investigating the murder of an elderly man in Yazoo City.

Assistant Police Chief Eric Snow said no arrests had been made in the murder of 69-year-old Hezzie Copeland.

Copeland’s body was found Monday by the maintenance man in Lintonia Apartments where he lived. Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Copeland’s throat was cut and that he had been killed either late Saturday afternoon or early Sunday morning.

Authorities said there were no signs of forced entry but there were signs of a struggle.

Snow said investigators were questioning suspects on Thursday, and following up on several leads.
