Drive sober blitz is a success

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department has released the results of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Blitz.”

Lt. Joe Quave, patrol commander for the Sheriff’s Department, said nine checkpoints were set up in the county.

Quave said 13 DUI and six felony arrests were made during the period from December 13 to January 1.

The deputies also recovered two stolen vehicles, made four warrant arrests and 10 drug arrests, Quave said.

Citations that were written during the blitz include: 32 seatbelt violations, 26 suspended driver’s licenses, 36 uninsured motorists, two speeding, nine reckless or careless driving and 60 non-moving violation citations, Quave said.

“Several deputies along with two DUI officers came out and worked overtime to make the DUI blitz successful,” Quave said.

“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Blitz” was an initiative sponsored by the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
