Investigators with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department recently worked two cases that led to the arrest of several suspects for drug related offenses.
In response to a number of complaints lodged about alleged drug activity taking place at a Pearl River County home, investigators headed to 20 Eaves Road, Sheriff David Allison said.
As part of that complaint, a list of the people thought to be living at the home was provided to the investigators. Upon review of the list, the investigators recognized the name of Sherri Behr, 32, who lives at 20 Eaves Rd., because she had a warrant for the distribution of narcotics, Allison said.
Investigators arrived at the home to find Behr was not home, but spoke with 56-year-old Jeanine Deshazo, another resident of the home. A search of her room located methamphetamine, heroin, amphetamine pills and paraphernalia, Allison said.
Deshazo was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute for the methamphetamine and heroin and tampering with physical evidence, Allison said.
The tampering with physical evidence offense was pressed because while she was detained in the bedroom, she tried to hide the heroin, Allison said.
While working the scene, a vehicle was seen passing the home occupied by Behr and 39-year-old John Maret, also of that address. Investigators pursued the vehicle, blocking it in. At that point, Maret attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was caught and detained.
Behr was taken into custody for three warrants, two for conspiracy to sell a controlled substance and another for sale of a controlled substance in addition to being arrested for possession of paraphernalia due to evidence found during the search of the home, Allison said.
While Behr was being booked in to the jail, a female corrections officer located heroin on her person, adding the offenses of introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility and possession of heroin to her booking sheet, Allison said.
Maret was taken into custody for failure to comply with officer requests and resisting arrest by fleeing, Allison said.
In a separate case worked a couple days later on May 4, narcotics investigators conduced surveillance of the home of 34-year-old Michael Dismuke, located at 75 Burgetown Road. While watching the home, investigators saw Dismuke leave in a vehicle with improper equipment, leading to a stop. During that stop, the investigators conducted a search and found six grams of methamphetamine along with some paraphernalia, Allison said.
A search warrant had already been acquired for the home, and in that search the investigators found more methamphetamine, paraphernalia and evidence that controlled substances were allegedly being packaged for distribution, leading to Dismuke to also be arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, Allison said.
