Picayune Mayor Jim Luke and the City Council presented a key to the city to Hailey White last night at the council meeting. Hailey is currently Miss Mississippi USA and her reign is coming to an end soon. She was born and raised in Picayune MS. She has represented Picayune and Mississippi with class, grace, and elegance. She will forever be Miss Mississippi to the community of Picayune.

In other business, the Council approved t0 to allow the Mayor’s Youth Council to request donations to build food bank boxes in Picayune.

The Planning and Zoning Department approved Tim Herrington to fill the open position of the City of Picayune Planning Commission.

The Council then approved entering an Engineering Agreement with Dungan Engineering for Final Design Phase Engineering and Construction Engineering and Inspection Service for the West Canal Sidewalk improvement project.

Code Enforcement was requested to conduct a Public Hearing for property clean-up at the 14 properties on April 4, 2023. Those properties are as follows;

Lastly, the Alumni of George Carver Alumni Association was approved to now store their historical items from the Carver Museum at City Property. The City hopes to make it a permeant storage location for the Carver Museum.
