Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Park Cemetery. A walk through will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2020 at Triumph Baptist Church from 4-6 p.m. Dr. Laverne Cook, Jr. will officiate at the services.

Willie Ray Jenkins was born on December 22, 1952 to the late Walter and Minnie Lee Sandifer Jenkins in Poplarville, MS. On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, Willie left his earthly home to enter into the pearly gates while surrounded by his lovely family.

At an early age, Willie was baptized at Triumph Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Joe Beck. In 2000, Willie joined New Light Baptist Church in Vancleave, MS under the leadership of Rev. Nathaniel Smith where he served on the Usher Board, Brotherhood and Sunday School teacher. He returned to Triumph Baptist Church in 2009 under the leadership of Rev. Tommy Hart where he was ordained as Deacon, Church Treasurer, Superintendent for Sunday School, member of the Brotherhood and Trustee Board.

Willie attended Todd Memorial School and graduated from Poplarville High School in May 1971. After graduating from high school, Willie joined the Air Force in August 1971 and retired as an E-7 MSGT in August 1991. After retiring he became an independent truck driver, enjoyed bass fishing, studying and teaching God’s word. Willie worked diligently in the church until his health began to fail under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Laverne Cook, Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Minnie Jenkins; son, Willie Ray Jenkins, Jr.; brothers, Issac Joe Jenkins and Claude Ray Jenkins; sisters, Ruthie M. Leggett and Lethell Jenkins; nephew, Thomas Earl Leggett; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert James and Nolan Henry; brothers-in-law, Frank Henry and James Luchious Henry.

Willie leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Nellie Jenkins of Poplarville, MS; daughter, Teresa (Devin,II) Morgan of Cibolo, TX; step-son, Brandon Gill of Poplarville, MS; siblings, James (Elona) Jenkins of Slidell, LA, Nebudchadnezzer “Nack” Jenkins of Las Vegas, NV and Deserie (Alvin, Jr.) Richard of Picayune, MS; grandchildren, Denay, Daeya, Ayriona, Devin III, Aryanna, Jayce, Kaleb, Kayla and Alyssa; sisters-in-law, Isabella Jenkins of Slidell, LA, Jacquelyn (Derrick) Travis, Tracy (Woodrow) Breland both of Poplarville, MS, Sherol (Terry) Toney of Lumberton, MS, Mary (Kirk) Fretty of Houston, TX; brothers-in-law, Eric (Ambere) Henry, Carl (Lillie) Henry both of Poplarville, Robert (Kenyatta) Henry of Lumberton, MS; special nephew, Robert (Zellie) Leggett of Vicksburg, MS; special friends, Bass Club and Class of 1971; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
