State Trooper finds twelve pounds of marijuana while conducting traffic stop

According to a press release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, State Troopers have seized approximately twelve pounds of marijuana and arrested a Mississippi man following a traffic stop on Interstate 59 near Meridian.

On Friday, June 19, at approximately 5:54 p.m., a trooper observed a northbound Nissan Altima speeding at mile marker 147 in Lauderdale County. Upon further investigation, the trooper conducted a search of the vehicle and found approximately twelve pounds of marijuana.

The driver, Wilbur Sims Jr, 38, of Meridian, MS, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana. Sims was transported to the Lauderdale County Detention Center with his bond being set at $100,000. Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
