Walk through viewing will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. in Baylous Funeral Home. Burial service beginning at 1 p.m. at Picayune Cemetery.

On June 5, 2020 Gladys Stevens Nixon was called home to be with the Lord. She was affectionately known as “Mama Gladys.” She was born August 20, 1937 in Picayune, Mississippi to Mary and George Stevens, Sr. She was married to Harvey Nixon and to this union 5 children were born.

She worked at Hide Away Lake Lodge where she retired. During retirement she was a babysitter to help parents to be able to work or attend school. She is a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and George Stevens, Sr.; husband, Harvey Nixon; son, Charles Nixon; grandson, Keith Nixon; great-grandson, Justin Nixon; sister, Shaddie Stevens; brothers, Clinton Stevens, Michael Stevens, and Joseph Stevens.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Kenneth Nixon, Alfreda (Danny) Jackson, Patrick (Janice) Nixon, and Rose Nixon all of Picayune, MS; her adoptive children/grandchildren Kyle Nixon of Memphis, TN and Za’Nyia Nixon of Hampton, GA; sisters, Lorine McCloskey and Joyce Stevens of Las Vegas, NV, Louise Dantzler and Annie Means of Picayune, MS; brothers, George (Barbara) Stevens, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Jimmy Stevens of Jackson, MS; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Nixon of Richmond, CA; sisters-in-law Lorraine Peters of Richmond, CA and Carrie Stevens of Las Vegas, NV; 28 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and 1 Godchild Dedvin Magee of Picayune, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
