National Evangelist Sarah Smith was born in Monticello, Mississippi. She was born on May 31,1949 in Monticello, Mississippi, to Mr. Ed Walker and Mrs. Quella Walker. She was educated in McCullough El­ementary and High School System. She continued her education at Milwaukee Technical College and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She attended the Milwaukee County Medical Complex and holds a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Degree. She was also a student of C.H. Mason Bible College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she received training in theological studies which she later completed through Greater New Orleans School of Ministry.

She was a Licensed International and National Evangelist and she served the Church of God in Christ, with the National Evangelist Department, as: Assistant Regional Elect Lady of Region #9, Adviso­ry Board Member, National Elect Lady and Assistant Director of Altar Workers Ministry. She also served Mississippi Southern Second Jurisdiction as Jurisdictional Women Choir President.

In addition, Evangelist Smith also served as District AIM Chairman of Columbia District. She was a mem­ber of Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Picayune, MS under the leadership of Elder David Sim­mons where she was Director of Altar Workers Ministries and Assistant Prayer Captain of Tuesday and Thursday Prayer.

Evangelist Smith is the mother of two sons, Elder Gary Walker and Deacon Anthony Walker; both of Mil­waukee, Wisconsin. She was married to the late, Elder John L. Smith who was pastor of Lowe’s Temple and Magee Hill Churches of God in Christ in Tylertown, Mississippi. Her step-son Phillip Smith, resides in Picayune, Mississippi. Donel (Laura) Smith lives in Jackson, Mississippi. She is also survived by the grandson they raised, Cortez Strickland, of Augustine, Florida, and one step-daughter Robin Hart, of Terry, Mississippi.

There will be a walk through service at Rose of Sharon Church of God In Christ, 500 North Beech Street, Picayune, Mississippi on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. The graveside service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2020 in Monticello, Mississippi at the Quinn Temple Church of God In Christ cemetery located at 1275 Hwy 184 West, Monticello, Mississippi at 1:00 p.m.
