Four people were arrested by the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday after drugs were found to be in their possession during a routine traffic stop.
Sheriff David Allison said the stop was conducted on April 18, when the deputy, Rony Polizzi, saw the vehicle traveling along Interstate 59 north in the left lane even though there were no vehicles in the right lane. The deputy also saw the vehicle cross the center line as it swerved and saw a passenger throw a cigarette out the window, causing the deputy to pull the vehicle over, Allison said.
As the deputy spoke with the driver, identified as 23-year-old Hussein Ahmed Ishak, of 58150 Neckel St.; Dearborn, Mich., he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting him to call for backup.
After backup arrived, a search of the vehicle was conducted where the officers found bags of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, a stack of cash totaling about $2,800, 440 doses of oxycodone, digital scales, 11 one pint bottles containing codeine and promethazine and hemp wraps.
Hussein Ishak was arrested for careless driving, two felony counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and sale, transfer or distribution of a controlled substance.
Three other occupants were in the vehicle, identified as Hatem Ahmed Ishak, 21, of 5150 Neckel St.; Dearbon, Mich.; arrested for littering, two felony counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and sale, transfer or distribution of a controlled substance; Mohamed Hussein Elreda, 19, of 6526 Jonathan St.; Dearbon, Mich.; arrested for two felony counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and sale, transfer or distribution of a controlled substance; and Seddiq Almontesar Almontesar, 21, of 7304 Theisen St.; Dearbon, Mich.; arrested for two felony counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and sale transfer or distribution of a controlled substance.
All four suspects are still booked in the county jail.
