Funeral services for Doretha Jefferson Magee, 91, of Picayune, MS will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, Picayune. Rev. Donald L. Parker who is the Pastor, will also officiate at this service.
Doretha Jefferson Magee was born on February 4, 1929 in Jayess, Mississippi to the late James and Tattena Galloway.

She graduated from Hope School in Jayess, Mississippi. She attended college in Birmingham, Alabama.

She later moved to Picayune, Mississippi where she joined Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E. L. Fox, where she remained a faithful member. She was a member of the Usher Board and assisted with the Junior Usher Board. She was a member of the Adult Women’s Ministry.

She united in holy matrimony to the late Warren Jefferson and to this union six children were born. Later she united in holy matrimony to the late John Magee and to this union one son.

Doretha Jefferson Magee departed this life on March 14, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Tattena Galloway; one brother, Booker T. Galloway; two sisters, Luella Morris and Camella May; two sons, James Jefferson Jr. and John Wayne Jefferson; one daughter, Ruby Lee Robey; and one grandchild James Jefferson III.

She leaves to cherish her memories, Maxie (LaVone) Ratcliff, New Orleans, LA, Tattena (Albert) Collins, Saucier, MS, Alton (Alberta) Jefferson, Picayune, MS and Clifford (Yvette) Jefferson Cordova, TN; 15 grandchildren, Ambroshia (Derrick) Roumell, Darrell Jones, Monique (Bernard) Sang, Rodney Jefferson, Ericka Collins, Michelle Jefferson, Shelia (Cordell) Keller, Irian (Ronnie) Causey, LaTeki Jefferson, Niccole Jefferson, Aisha Jefferson, Kawana (Doug) Furr, Alton Jefferson, Albert (Courtney) Collins, Nickolas Robey and Monique Carter; 39 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; special God grandchild, Tiffany McPeak; and seven special friends, Catherine Gaines, Chrystelle Goff, JoAnn Tyson, Heidi Roberts, Mary Jackson, Jean Hatcher and Nanny Lou Berry.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.

Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery.
