Funeral services for Charles Edwin Quinn, Sr., 74, affectionately known as Red Bird, of Picayune, MS, will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church. Pastor Alex Wesco, Jr. will officiate at the service.

Charles Edwin Quinn, Sr. was born to the late Adam Quinn, Jr. and Doris Carter Quinn. He graduated from George Washington Carver in 1964 where he played football as quarterback. He was later drafted in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War as a combat medic.

Mr. Quinn was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E. L. Fox. He united in holy matrimony to Dorothy Ann Simmons and to this union two children were born, Ingrid M. Quinn and Charles E. Quinn, Jr.

The Lord with his infinite wisdom decided to call Charles Edwin Quinn, Sr. to his heavenly home on February 26, 2020.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories a loving, devoted, best friend and wife of 49 years, Dorothy Ann Quinn of Picayune, MS; three children, Ingrid M. Quinn of Picayune, MS, Charles (Latina) Quinn, Jr. of Catahoula, MS and Shaundra Clark of Tipton, GA; two sisters, Elaine Barnes of Marietta, GA and Ann (Eddie) Myers of Picayune, MS; two brothers, Anthony Quinn of Picayune, MS and David Mitchell Quinn of Newport, VA; one aunt, Rosie Lee Nicholson of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Annette Rosario of Picayune, MS; brother-in-law, Tommy Simmons, of Picayune, MS; a special cousin, Gary Nicholson; a special cousin  like brother, James Avery; two special friends, Joe Little and Willard Johnson; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at noon. Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery with Military Honors.
