With the primary election approaching, registered voters who intend to vote absentee have about a week to do so.
Pearl River County Circuit Clerk Nance Stokes said the deadline to vote absentee in the Picayune or Poplarville office is March 7 at noon. Both locations of the Circuit Clerk’s office, located in Chimney Square in Picayune on Goodyear Boulevard, or in the County Courthouse in Poplarville on Main Street, will be open the Saturdays of Feb. 29 and March 7 from 8 a.m. until noon.
If a voter has requested an absentee ballot be mailed to them, that ballot must be mailed back to her office and received in her office by March 9 at 5 p.m. Absentee ballots that were requested by mail can only be mailed back, not handed in to the Circuit Clerk’s office.
If a resident has not already registered to vote but wants to vote in the primary runoff, if one is needed, they have until March 2 to do so. A runoff, if needed, will be held on March 31, Stokes said.
