Veterans Parade in Picayune canceled

The Veterans Parade set for Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. along Goodyear Boulevard has been canceled.

City of Picayune Code Enforcement Officer Tom Milar, who has been organizing this year’s event, said the decision to cancel the parade came after concern was lodged to his office about the weather predictions for that day.

Milar said the forecast predicts low temperatures and a 50 percent change of rain.  The decision to cancel the parade was made to protect the health of the veterans that would be participating in the parade.

Milar said a date to reschedule the parade has not been set.

The parade typically features historic military vehicles occupied by local veterans along with high school bands, NJROTC and other marching groups.
