Pearl River County’s Sheriff’s Department’s Narcotics Unit arrested five people Tuesday as part of an operation to take individuals into custody who were wanted for drug related crimes.
Officers from the Narcotics Unit and the Patrol Division worked with officials from the Mississippi Department of Corrections to conduct the roundup.
Lawanda Michelle Graves, 46, was arrested for four counts of sale of a controlled substance.
Donald Edward Burnett, 66, 77 Lawson Taylor Rd, Carriere, was arrested for two counts of sale of a controlled substance, pharmaceuticals, and one count of conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
Jasmane Jermaine Jordan, 31, 211 Cottonwood St., Picayune, was arrested for four counts of sale of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and two counts of conspiracy to sell a controlled substance. During the arrest, officers saw digital scales, an open bag in which they could see and smell marijuana and plastic bags, said Narcotics Supervisor Ryan Stachura, so the department got a search warrant to conduct a search of Jordan’s residence. As a result of evidence found during the search, Jordan was also arrested for possession of MDMA with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Roger Dale Alsobrooks Jr., 40, 12604 Preacher Powell Rd., Carriere, was arrested for sale of a controlled substance. Alsobrooks was on probation with Mississippi Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest on Tuesday, so MDOC conducted a home inspection of Alsobrooks’ residence. Methamphetamine was discovered in the search of his residence, so Alsobrooks was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Heaven Moore Alsobrooks, 42, 12604 Preacher Powell Rd., Carriere, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. The offense stemmed from the MDOC search of the Alsobrooks home.
Wanted
Department officials still have four suspects they plan to arrest as part of the operation.
Carl Lamont Jenkins, 45, 1223 Kingsway Dr., Apt. A-2, Picayune, is wanted for trafficking cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, five counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, three counts of sale of a controlled substance including cocaine and pharmaceuticals, and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
Cedrick Deshaun Tyner Sr., 39, is wanted for sale of methamphetamine. His last known address is 892 Herrin Dr., Picayune.
Joshua Ramon Smith, 35, 1501 6th Ave., Apt. M-2, Picayune, is wanted for two counts of sale of methamphetamine, and two counts of conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
John L. Stockstill, also known as “John Boy,” 37, of 18027 Highway 603, Kiln, is wanted for sale of methamphetamine, and conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
The department conducts roundups at least once a year, Stachura said, and the current operation focused on people who have allegedly sold drugs. Methamphetamine and heroin are the biggest threats to the local community, but the Narcotics Unit works on cases that deal with all forms of controlled substances, Stachura said.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections often assists the department with roundups, Stachura said and the two departments have a good working relationship.
