Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 12 noon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Donald L. Parker is Pastor. Rev. Otis Jones will officiate at the service.

Ogie Stubbs, Jr., son of the late Mr. Ogie Stubbs, Sr. and Mrs. Jessie Mae Wilson Stubbs, was born February 19, 1936, in Bassfield, MS.  He peacefully departed this life Friday, October 11, 2019, at The Pillars of Biloxi.

At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church, Bassfield, MS under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L. Lumzy.  He was ordained by the late Rev. Dr. E.L. Fox. 

One of 12 children, he attended the public schools of Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, where even during his era, he proved himself academically and athletically.  He was a graduate of Carver High School in Bassfield, MS.  He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after completing his tour, he was honorably discharged.  He was a self-employed cement finisher. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ogie, Sr. and Jessie Mae Stubbs; four brothers, Robert Earl, Leon, Liddell, and Rev. Thomas Earl Stubbs; and two sisters, Corrine Stubbs Hives and Christine Stubbs Mickel.

Left to cherish his loving memories are his children, Shelbria Stubbs-Buckley of Bassfield, MS, Dr. Barbara Jones-Franklin of Macon, GA and Rev. Otis Jones of Picayune, MS; siblings, Evelyn Stubbs, Charles Edward Stubbs, Rev. Edward Lewis (Delores) Stubbs and Alice Wilkes, all of Picayune, MS, Joyce S. (Morris) Burton of Gulfport, MS; two sisters-in-law, Joyce L. Stubbs (the late Rev. Thomas Stubbs) and Deborah Stubbs (the late Liddell Stubbs); 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
