Picayune Exchange Club will be raising funds for their ongoing projects with a fish or chicken plate sale Tuesday at Jack’s Fish House.

The club will be selling fish or chicken plates from 5 p.m. to 7:30 for $10 each.

The proceeds will benefit projects the club conducts throughout the year, said President Elect Courtney Knight.

The club supports the community and schools with projects throughout the year, Knight said.

The fundraiser will support a project to help local teen girls who cannot afford prom dresses, Knight said.

The group plans to help two to three girls at each high school purchase dresses and pay for services like getting their hair and nails done for prom, Knight said.

“Women in the club will take them to get that done and serve as mentors to them,” Knight said.

The number of teenagers the club will help depends on how much money is raised.

The funds will also be used to help families during the Christmas season, Knight said. The club typically helps two or three families in the community buy Christmas gifts, acquire clothes, or provides the families with a meal, Knight said.

To learn more about Exchange Club, interested parties can attend a weekly meeting, which are held the first through third Wednesday at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County at 12 p.m. or contact the club through its Facebook page.
