A new business in Pearl River County can provide exposure for other businesses in the area in the form of simple texts to customers who opt in.

Alana Campo said she started Sentext Solutions, a home operated business here in Pearl River County, because she feels a recession is on the way, and she wanted to provide a way for local businesses to thrive if and when it does.

The double opt in system allows business owners who subscribe to send texts to customers who willingly provide their cellphone number. Campo said she provides her customers with a sign to display in their business about the availability of the notification system. Once the customer is added to the business’ list of contacts, that business owner can alert their customers to discounts, special deals, new products and upcoming specials via text message.

Businesses can send up to four texts per week, but Campo suggests keeping that number lower so as not to annoy their customers.

“It really is about helping people,” Campo said.

She started the business in February of this year and said the system can work across the nation. She currently has customers in Texas and is speaking with one or two in Florida.

She said the service can be a good way to get a business’ message to the public who opt in.
