Several students were recognized for their achievements during this week’s Picayune School District Board of Trustees meeting.

Two students from South Side Elementary, Bella Frosch and Ashton Smith, were recognized for being named to the Mississippi All State Honor Choir.

Allie Bond from South Side Elementary was recognized for placing first in the school reading fair, first in the regional fair and third in the state competition.

Braydyn Frosch, a South Side Elementary student, receivevd recognition for placing third in the Pearl River County Spelling Bee.

West Side Elementary student Gideon Braddy was recognized for placing first in the science fair for behavioral science and first overall in the regional K-6 category.

The following students from Nicholson Elementary were recognized for placing in the regional science fair as well; Krishna Patel placed first in the math and software systems category; Hannah Grace Holifield placed second in the math and software systems category; Mackenzie Pollitz placed second in the robotics and intelligent design category; Trinity Thigpen placed third in the robotics and intelligent design category; and Asa Stevenson placed fifth in the inorganic chemistry category.

At Roseland Park Elementary the following students were recognized for placing in the regional science fair; Adeline O’Meara placed first in the organic chemistry category; Zoe Ruffin placed first in the animal science category; Madalina Newby placed second in the biomedical and health category; Matthew Howell placed second in the engineering category; James Kenny Wayne Smith placed third in the behavioral and social science category; Aston Jeansonne placed third in the engineering category; Jacob Larson placed fourth in the physics category; Mason Williams placed fourth in the biomedical and health category; Kennady Varnado placed fifth in the biomedical and health category; Jalin Richard placed fifth in the mathematics and system software; and Jenna Dillard placed sixth in the animal science.

South Side Elementary student Mason Ussery was recognized for placing third in the district competition in the behavioral science category and fifth at regional in the same category. Allie Bond, also a student at South Side, placed second in the regional science fair in the physics category and received the SMART Award from the Mississippi Department of Energy for her project on Hydropower.
