Walk for Life set for Saturday

Sav-A-Life in Picayune will conduct a Walk for Life Saturday morning that will include a rally at Crosby Commons featuring local and state dignitaries.

Registration for the walk will start at 8:30 at the Picayune Intermodal Tourist Center, located at 200 Highway 11.

Sav-A-Life Board member Mary Jim Weems said the walk will start at the Center at 9:10 a.m., head down Highway 11 and then turn on Goodyear Boulevard. It will end at Crosby Commons where the rally will be held. The rally will feature Pearl River County Sheriff David Allison, Chairman of the Mississippi Worker’s Compensation Committee Mark Formby, State Senator Angela Hill and State Representative Stacey Wilkes.

Birthday cake will be served and balloons will be released commemorating the babies that were not born during the rally, Weems said.

The event will also act as a fundraiser with members of the organization selling T-shirts. Sav-A-Life provides services to local women in the form of counseling for women who have had an abortion, clothes for children, cribs and car seats when available and free ultrasounds for pregnant women considering abortion.
