The staff at McDonald Funeral Home are accepting donations of toys to bring to the Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.

Maegan Veazey of McDonald Funeral Home said this is the fourth year the business has collected toys to donate to a children’s hospital.

Due to the regulations for toys used by children at the hospital, donations should be kept to washable colored markers, colored pencils, coloring and activity books and pads, puzzles with larger pieces for all ages, card games, crossword puzzle books and paperback story books.

They will not be able to accept food of any kind, clothing, pillows, dolls, toy trucks and cars, shoes, blankets or games with a large number of parts and pieces.

Veazey said those items won’t be accepted because the toys will be utilized in the hospital’s activity room, and the list of items that won’t be accepted include toys that can’t be easily sanitized after use.

“We try to give back because we know there are times when people in our community have to go to these hospitals,” Veazey said.

Donations can be dropped off at the funeral home each business day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items will be accepted until April 15.

The funeral home is located at 401 W. Canal St. and can be reached by calling 601-798-1212
