Community complaints of alleged drug activity at a Picayune home led to the arrest of three people.

Picayune Police Department Capt. Dustin Moeller said narcotics detectives obtained and served a search warrant at the home, located at 970 Shirley Drive, on Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. in response to the complaints.

As the detectives entered the home, they detected the odor of a substance suspected to be marijuana and found 21-year-old James Darren Lee Jr., in a bedroom.

In the master bedroom of the home were two other occupants, 49-year-old James Darren Lee Sr., and 39-year-old Wendy Marie Lee, Moeller said.

In the search, detectives located multiple plastic bags containing a green leafy substance suspected to be hydroponic marijuana, small and large digital scales that had a residue similar to the green leafy substance found in the bags and boxes of clear plastic bags, Moeller said.

In another area of the home, the detectives found two large vacuum-sealed bags of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, a loaded AK 47 rifle, a loaded 410 shotgun, a loaded 9 mm handgun and additional drug paraphernalia, Moeller said.

Inside an air conditioning unit, the detectives located another clear bag of a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana and $383 in currency.

Investigative techniques determined that Wendy Lee is a convicted felon, leading to her arrest for possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

James Darren Lee Jr., was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and James Darren Lee Sr., was arrested for a warrant with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department for traffic violations, Moeller said.

While being booked into the jail, James Lee Sr., was found to have a plastic bag in his sock containing a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine, resulting in James Lee Sr. being additionally arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance and introducing a controlled substance into a correctional facility, Moeller said.

All three suspects live at the home where the search was conducted.
