Funeral service will be held Sat., Feb. 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. in Greater Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for Mr. Cornelius Washington, age 94, of Picayune, MS. Mr. Washington died Sat., Feb. 9, 2019 in Slidell Memorial Hospital.  Rev. Donald Parker will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery. A native of Brookhaven, MS, he was retired from Crown Zellerback Paper Company. He also worked at the Mississippi Test Facility.  He was a member of Greater Pleasant Valley Church of Picayune where he sang in the senior choir and male chorus. He was a foundation of the community, having served on the Board of Directors of the Carver High School Museum, was a member of the Carver Quarterback Club, and he taught photography to young people. Survivors include his beloved wife of seventy five years, Vivian Palmer Washington; 1 son, Cornelius Washington Washington Jr; 5 daughters, Barbra (Fred) Cockerham of Staatsburg, NY, Mary Crooks of New Orleans, LA, Arbra (Micheal) Powell of Peoria, IL, Sandra Porter of Heidelberg, MS and Patricia (Vince) Pollard of Peoria, IL; like daughter, Lecrease (Melvin) Hicks of Carriere, MS; cousins, Gwendolyn (Ralph) Frances of Bogalusa, LA and Hilda Ray Magee of New Orleans; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and relatives and friends. Visitation Sat., Feb. 16 2019 at 10 a.m. in Greater Pleasant Baptist Church under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
