Three suspects were arrested by officers with the Picayune Police Department in relation to two separate cases.

On Jan. 6, just before 6 p.m., officers responded to call that a man was brandishing a firearm outside of an apartment at 1701 Highway 11 North, according to a departmental report.

Officers arrived to speak with residents of the apartment building, who pointed to a man wearing a hoodie sitting outside of an apartment.

While speaking with the man, identified as Senque Santanze Wright, 38, of 910 Cayten St., the officer noticed that a woman identified as April Nicole Pierce-Drennan, 24, also of 910 Cayten St., was moving items around on a table in front of the apartment, the report states.

While searching Wright for officer safety, the officer’s hand was stabbed by a knife in the suspect’s pocket. Upon removal of the knife from Wright’s pocket, the officer found a small bag containing a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine also in the pocket, leading to Wright’s arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. A search of the area Pierce-Drennan was standing when the officer arrived located a syringe, leading to her arrest for possession of paraphernalia, the report states. It does not state if a firearm was found at the scene.

The same day, at 2:35 p.m., officers conducting a safety checkpoint at South Beech Street and Williamsburg Road came into contact with 28-year-old Chad Joseph Mutz of 11060 Highway 16, West Amite, La., a departmental report states.

While speaking with Mutz, the officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, prompting them to ask Mutz to pull to the side of the road.

Investigative techniques and a search of the vehicle located a hand rolled blunt containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, the release states. In the center console of the vehicle, officers found four syringes, leading Mutz to be arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia, the report states.

While Mutz was being booked into the jail, a search of his person located two baggies containing a crystal like substance suspected to be methamphetamine and three bags containing a brown powdery substance suspected to be heroin, leading him to be additionally booked for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, the report states.
