Three die in Thanksgiving Day multi-vehicle collision on I-59

Three people passed away after being involved in a multicar accident on Interstate 59 in Pearl River County on Thanksgiving Day.

According to a release from Capt. John Poulos with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just before 10:30 that morning. Troopers were sent to the area of mile marker 39 to find that the accident was caused when a 2018 Dodge Caravan driven by 48-year-old Shelley E. Rose of Asheville, NC, was driving north in the southbound lane of the interstate.

The Dodge then collided head-on with a 2007 Saturn Ion, driven by 23-year-old Jada J. Bright of Picayune, before colliding head on with a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by 45-year-old Evans Vincent of Albertville, Ala., the release states.

After those three vehicles collided, a 2011 Honda CRV struck the Ion, forcing it to roll into the wood line before a 2007 Toyota Tundra struck several pieces of debris from the crashes while driving through the scene, the release states.

As a result of injuries they suffered during the accident, Rose, Bright and Vincent were all pronounced dead at the scene, while the drivers of the CRV and Tundra were transported to Forrest General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the release states.
