Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 12 noon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, for Mrs. Sarah M. Richard Carter, 88, of Picayune, MS. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Pastor Donald L. Parker will officiate at the services.

Sarah was born November 20, 1930 in Brewton, Alabama to Beulah Smith Garrett and Jimmie Cook. She was married to the late Albert Richard, III and the late Roosevelt Carter. She peacefully departed this life on November 23, 2018, in Hattiesburg, MS.

Sarah was an active member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where she taught  Sunday School and was a member of the Pastor’s Aide. She worked in the cafeteria at NASA until she retired. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Beulah; husbands, Albert Richard and Roosevelt Carter; brothers, James Cook and Jimmie Cook, Jr.; and sisters, Rosalie Cook and Pearlie Brown.

She survived by her son, Albert D. (Christine Tolite) Richard, IV of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren: Colson Griffin, Joshua Martin, and Stacey Martin all of Hattiesburg, MS; Shanna Richard of Gulfport, MS; Albert D. Richard, V of Picayune, MS; and Tanika Victor of Avondale, LA; brother, Clifton Cook of Dayton, OH; sister, Bertha Northington of Pittsburgh, PA; a godchild and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery.
