Poplarville man dies in two vehicle collision on Highway 26

A two vehicle collision in the north end of Pearl River County resulted in the death of a Poplarville man.

The identity of the man has not been released at press time, but according to a release from the Mississippi Highway Patrol, at about 5:50 Monday morning, a 1993 Ford F-150 traveling west on Highway 26 near the weigh scales collided head on with a 2006 Dodge when the driver of the Dodge turned into the path of the F-150.

The driver of the Ford, identified in the release as a 40-year-old man from Poplarville was pronounced at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, identified as a 30-year-old man from Bush, La., was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries, the release states.

Seat belts were reportedly not being worn by either driver at the time of the accident, the release states.

Additional information, including the names of those involved, about this incident is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
