Ground broken on addition to Heritage Christian Academy

Friday morning, members of the community gathered at Heritage Christian Academy to take part in a ground breaking that will lead to the constrcution of an addition to the school.

The addition will act as a “shell,” providing room for a number of additional classrooms. Initially, four of those classrooms will be built before the start of the next school year, making way for additional classes up to grade 8.

Dr. Jeremy Williams, Heritage Christian Academy’s Head of School, said that the current facility was filled to capacity two years ago. When it was built, the idea was always to continue to add to the facility until all 12 grades could be taught there. Long term plans also include varsity sports, according to previous coverage.

Williams said that construction of the facility will begin in the next month or so with the pouring of the concrete foundation.

By late January or February, the walls and rest of the facility will be installed on the site. Four classrooms will initially be built in this “shell,” which can accommodate even more classrooms, said Brooks Wallace with Dungan Engineering.

In about another two years, another expansion will be needed to add more classrooms, with expansions continuing each year until all grades are offered at the campus.
