Saturday night a participant in a Halloween costume contest at a local establishment was ejected not only from the contest, but also the business for his tasteless choice.

Mutt & BC Bar and Grill co-owner Bryan Carroll said the contest held Saturday night included a band and drew a large crowd, but one of the guests was asked to leave shortly after showing up wearing a Ku Klux Klan costume and holding a Mississippi flag.  Photos of the man wearing the costume were posted to social media.

Carroll said that when he saw the man arrive, he promptly walked up to him and asked him to take off the costume and leave immediately.

When the man took off the hoodie, Carroll noticed the man was white, but since the man was not a regular of the business and he had never seen him before, Carroll said he could not identify the man.  After the man vacated the premises, Carroll said that he advised his staff to never allow the man to enter the business again.

Picayune Mayor Ed Pinero said he supports the business owner’s decision to eject the patron due to his costume.

“That type of behavior is unacceptable,” Pinero said. “There’s no place in our society for that.”
