Picayune drops shootout to Hattiesburg

Picayune’s Maroon Tide dropped a high scoring contest 49-35 to Hattiesburg’s Tigers on Friday .

The Tide exchanged scores with the Tigers throughout most of the night but were unable to keep pace with Hattiesburg’s high powered offense.

The Tide drove down the field on their first drive 80 yards for the score on a 4 yard run from Jortin Raine.

Hattiesburg responded with a touchdown pass from Jarod Conner to Kaddarius Hicks to make the score 7-7.

The Tide answered with a 60 yard drive that was capped off with a 3 yard touchdown run from quarterback Jakail Myers.

Hattiesburg matched the Tide offense with a touchdown run from Conner to tie the game at 14-14.

Picayune then drove down the field yet again and cashed in on a touchdown pass from Myers to Danzelle Whitney for a 31 yard score.

The Tigers answered with another touchdown pass from Conner to once again tie the game.

Hattiesburg started the second half with a long touchdown run from Conner going 59 yards to give Hattiesburg the lead.

The Tide answered back with a big 80 yard drive that culminated with a 2 yard run from Myers.

On the Tigers next drive Conner pushed down the field and scored on another touchdown pass to make the score 35-28 Hattiesburg.

On the ensuing kickoff Hattiesburg attempted and recover an onside kick.

Picayune Head Coach Dodd Lee protested the recovery by Hattiesburg and was ultimately ejected from the game.

Conner would once again punch it in for the Tigers to make the score 42-28.

Picayune bounced back with a 45 yard run from running back Kaleb Hart for a touchdown to make the score 42-35.

Hattiesburg slam the door shut on a Picayune win with a 2 yard touchdown pass from Conner making the score 49-35.
