Mildred Wheat

Funeral service will be held Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Pearlington, MS, for Mrs. Mildred Wheat, age 95, of Pearlington. Mrs.

Wheat died Oct. 27, 2018 at her home.  Rev. James Palmer, Jr. will officiate at the service.  Burial will be in the Lindsey Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home. 

A native of Logtown, MS,  she retired from Mississippi Action For Progress as a dietitian.  She was a member of Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, where she served as a Stewardess and Class Leader, Household of Ruth 1217, Gussie Shelter Mission. 

Survivors include 4 sons, Johnny Wheat, James Wheat Sr. and Michael Wheat of Pearlington, MS and Jerome Wheat of Slidell, LA; 3 daughters, Gloria Bolden of New Orleans, LA, Shelia Green Morgan of Pearlington, MS and Debra Batiste of Slidell, LA; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death her husband, James Wheat Sr.; her parents, Joseph and Sarah Keys; 5 brothers, Arthur Keys, Richard Keys, Johnnie Keys, William Keys and Eugene Keys; 3 sisters, Denise Young, Rose Emily Hughes and Harriett Magee.  Visitation will be held Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in Greater Mount Zion A.M.E. Church under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
