Detectives with the Picayune Police Department are seeking information in relation to a drive by shooting that occurred Thursday afternoon on Nutter Drive.

Picayune Police Chief Bryan Dawsey said the department received a call of the incident that evening at about 6:15. Responding officers arrived to find no one in the area, but witness statements were collected.

Those statements described five gunshots being heard in the area before a small black car, possibly a four-door, fled the area toward Herrin Drive.

Allegedly, the black male in the vehicle was firing at two other black males standing in front of a home at 1301 Nutter Drive, the Chief said. The two men standing in front of the home fled after being shot at, Dawsey said.

Saturation patrols ensued, but the vehicle and the two males standing in front of the home at the time of the incident could not be located, Dawsey said.

Dawsey said a 9mm shell casing was found in the area, but it appeared to not have been fired that day due to its condition. No damage to the home was reported or found, Dawsey said.
