It’s a project that has been promised for years, but now that it seems it will move forward, there’s growing concern of how widening Highway 11 will affect the many businesses that line it.

That concern has led to a meeting being scheduled with State Representative Stacey Wilkes and local business owners.

Wilkes said the meeting was organized after she received calls from about 10 people in the business community asking for more information. During the meeting, which is set for Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center of South Pearl River County, she will listen to those concerns before taking them to the Mississippi Department of Transportation to find answers. Wilkes said the meeting will not be a bash session, but rather a way to find solutions.

Everyone in the public is invited to attend and share concerns, Wilkes said.
