When change occurs in life, no matter how big or small the aspect, there is typically a positive and negative side.

In 2018, we live in a digital age. And as the years have passed, the resulting advancement in technology has provided faster access to more information.

For instance, if we want to see how much the taxes are on a piece of property, or who owns it, a simple search online will provide that information.

While that could be considered a positive if the person doing the search owns the property in question, it could be considered an invasion of privacy if the search is being conducted by a third party, even though that information is public record.

One day, the records regarding ownership of all property in this county dating back to its foundation will be just as easy to search.

When that occurs, should someone need to conduct a title search, or simply research the history of the county, they will no longer have to drive to the county seat and search those records in the courthouse.

This newfound access to information could mean a savings to the person buying property, since the attorney will not have to log in an additional hour of drive time as part of the title search.

But there’s something to be said for having the opportunity to walk into a room filled with historic records and hold them in your hands.

It’s an experience that the Internet will never replace.

However, being able to save time in the arduous search for historic information will allow us to use that extra time for other things, like doing chores around the house.
