There are two publicly accessible fireworks shows being offered in Pearl River County.

The McNeill Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual fundraising fireworks show on July 4, and Sunroamers RV Park will hold one as well.

At the annual McNeill Volunteer Fire Department fireworks show, there will be food, entertainment and a 30 minute fireworks show. Noel Burge, a member of the volunteer fire department, has taken the reigns in organizing this year’s event, and was able to find enough sponsors this year to pay for the 30 minutes worth of fireworks. He said that the event is the fire department’s major fundraiser, which helps with the department’s operation expenses. Attendees of the event can help the department by providing a donation at the end of the event to one of the many firefighters holding boots at the exit points.

Brad Fraiser, a Deacon at Lee’s Chapel #1 Baptist Church, said this will be the third year for the church to provide musical entertainment at the event.  Fraiser said the entertainment will start at about 6 p.m. with Pam Frierson.

Then at 6:30, Big Blessin’ Trio will take over. The entertainment will run till dark, at which time the fireworks will take place.

Burge estimates the fireworks will begin between 9:30 to 9:45 that night.

Several food vendors will be at the event. Two of them, Dixie Barbecue and Slim’s Soda and Sandwich Shop, will donate a portion of the proceeds made that night to the McNeill Volunteer Fire Department.

Deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand to ensure everyone’s safety and ensure that the attendees abide by the no alcoholic beverages rule.

Sponsors include Charlie’s Custom Colors, J Patrick Lee, Glenn Neal Construction, Rehmann Construction, Jack’s Fish House, Advantage Insurance, Parish Tractor, Darby’s Lawn Excellance, Finish Line Pawn, Supervisor Hudson Holliday, Slims Soda and Sandwich Shop, Ritchie and Christian Burge, Putnam’s Auto, Tim Kahl, and North 11 Diner.

At Sunroamer’s RV Park, they are opening the park to the public on July 4. For $5 per person, families can swim for the day in the pool. There is no charge to enjoy a fireworks show scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
