A Picayune man was arrested last week for trespassing on public housing property and found to be in possession of drugs and weapons.

According to a report filed with the Picayune Police Department, an officer with the department was called out by a public housing officer in response to the offenses on July 18. When the officer arrived, he spoke with the public housing officer who had already taken 34-year-old Michael Eric Richardson into custody for trespassing on public housing property and for possessing contraband.

The police officer was informed that Richardson was found to be in possession of a pipe suspected to have been used in the consumption of methamphetamine and for possessing six hydrocodone pills and methamphetamine found in a dresser drawer within the public housing home. A partially burned hand-rolled cigarette containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana was also found in the drawer, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

All of the evidence was provided to the police officer, and a search of Richardson’s vehicle was conducted by the police officer. In that search, the officer found a 9mm handgun, a Wesson 38 special and liquid codeine.

Richardson, of 619 Lewis Circle, Picayune, was arrested for trespassing on public housing property, two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance, two counts of misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and three counts of possession of paraphernalia, the report states.
