“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” –Psalm 15:17

Sister Irene Brumfield Smith was born June 13, 1942, in Osyka, Mississippi, to the late Tinch and Lena Bell Brumfield.  After the passing of her parents, she moved to Covington, Louisiana and was raised by her aunt, Hattie Magee.  She met and married Robert Smith.

Later in life they moved to McNeill, Mississippi, and began a family.  To their union two children were born.  She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined the Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend A. W. Parker.  After Reverend Parker, the late Reverend Alex Holloway, Jr., became her pastor.  Sister Irene served as an usher, choir member and member of the Home Mission.  She was a very faithful member even after her health began to fail, she still stayed faithful.  Her favorite hymn that she loved and always sang was “I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry”.
