Penton said the event is open to all senior citizens in the community and encourages everyone to participate in a day filled with fun and activities.

The center will also feature games and line dancing.

Officials from the city, county, law enforcement agencies and fire departments are also invited to attend, Penton said.

So far about 130 people have signed up for the event. Penton said that anyone who is interested has until June 19 to sign up.

The shrimp boil is one of the most anticipated events at the center, Penton said.

Interested parties can RSVP by sending an email to ds.thecenter@gmail.com or calling the center at 601-798-9892, Penton said.

The center is located at 45 El Patch Parkway in Picayune.
