Most of us do not sit around and plan our end of life arrangements, but sadly, it’s a day that we will all face.

A lot of citizens have registered to become organ donors once they pass away, but others have not.

Registering to become an organ donor can help give others the gift of life.

April is recognized as National Donor Month. To create awareness, organizations such as Donate Life Mississippi will share stories with members of the community about how one organ donor can have a positive impact on 50 different individuals.

Across the U.S., thousands of citizens are in need of a life-saving transplant. But because that transplant never arrives or is too late, 22 people pass away each day, according to statistics provided by Donate Life.

A concern many people face is that if they register to become an organ donor and they find themselves injured because of an accident or very sick, they will not receive the same high quality of care. Donate Life’s response to this claim is,“…Your wish to donate will not interfere with your medical care.”

Citizens can register to become an organ donor either when they obtain their driver’s license for the first time or anytime they renew it.

They can also visit Donatelife.com to register and learn more about giving the gift of life.

For a person who did not register as a donor, their family will have to make the decision of whether that person’s organs will be donated upon their death.

Registering to become an organ donor is an easy process.

Besides, it could be you or a loved one waiting for a life-saving transplant. So consider giving others the gift of life by becoming an organ donor.
