The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department arrested two individuals Wednesday night who were allegedly involved in a string of recent auto burglaries.

The two suspects, identified as Christine Anderson, 49, and Christopher Weidert, 34, both of 41 Jimmy Reyer Rd., allegedly stole money out of vehicles located at Collision Pro and Todd’s Collision in the Carriere area on Dec. 29, 2017, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Marc Ogden said.

The Sheriff’s Department obtained a surveillance video from the two businesses after receiving a complaint of the alleged thefts. Through that footage, the detectives were able to identify the vehicle used by the suspects during the burglaries and subsequently identify its owner, Ogden said.

Using that and other information through the continued investigation, detectives located the suspect vehicle and the two suspects at about 6:30 p.m. on Spanish Oak Lane in Nicholson, Ogden said.

Anderson and Weidert were arrested for commercial burglary as a result of the investigation, Ogden said.

Ogden also said the investigation continues to determine if the suspects were involved in other auto burglaries reported in the area.

The burglarized vehicles were unlocked so Ogden recommends that residents lock their doors and store valuables in a place other than their vehicle.

If valuables must be left in a vehicle, lock them in the trunk or place them out of sight, Ogden said.
