Funeral Services for Sylvester “Sonny”  Hedges, Jr., age 74, of Carriere, Mississippi, who passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 3:00 pm at Roseland Park Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Roseland Park Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Local arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Rev. Dan Young will officiate the service.

A native of Shreveport,Louisiana, he was a retired Chemical Engineer for Monsanto, and also the Executive Director of the Gulfcoast Safety Council. Sonny was a member and deacon of Roseland Park Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, and deer and elk hunter. He loved antique cars and motorcycles. Sonny was a loving and generous husband, father, Pawpaw, brother, uncle, and friend to many, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Hedges, Sr. and Nellie Hood Hedges; and his sisters and brothers, Inez Hedges Davis, Houston E. Hedges, Gerald Dean Hedges, Betty Jo Hedges Hines, and Mary Sue Hedges Wheeler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Norma Jean Henry Hedges; his  daughters, Melissa (Raymond) Seager and Rhonda (Ted Roose) Hedges; his two grandchildren, Callie Jordan Hedges (Joshua) Vaden and Cassie Nicole Seager; his sister, Bobbie Jean (Lee) Hedges Rains; and many nieces and nephews.
