Deacon James Leonard Magee

James Leonard Magee was born on October 23, 1950, to the late James Calmese Magee and Willie Mae Conerly.  He was raised by Velma “Big Mama” Smith.

On Thursday, January 11, 2018, the death angels came and claimed the birth spirit of Deacon Magee away to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, pain and death.  Deacon Magee grew up in Tylertown, Mississippi.   He was employed at International Paper Company, a bus driver for Hancock County Schools and auto mechanic entrepreneur until his illness would not allow him to work anymore.  Deacon Magee served at Little Providence Baptist Church as President of the Adult Choir, part of the Brotherhood and as a Deacon.

Deacon Magee was preceded in death by his wife, Sister Olga Magee; his parents, and 1 brother:  Henry Lee Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons:  Pastor Troy L. (Elizabeth) Magee, Sr. of Tylertown, Mississippi; Kelvis (Tracy) Bankston of Pass Christian, Mississippi; and James Leonard “Buzz” Bankston, Jr. of Kiln, Mississippi; five daughters: Nechelle (Alvin) Mitchell of Fayetteville, Georgia; Kem (Anthony) Murray, Cynthia Bankston, Jammette Simmons, and Omeka (Gary) Hall all of Kiln, Mississippi; two brothers:  Acie Magee from Fayetteville, Georgia; and Wallace “Akon” Broomfield of Tylertown, Mississippi; three sisters:  Willie Jean (Carl) Magee of McComb, Mississippi; Florence Marie (Andrew) Gatlin of Tylertown, Mississippi; Samantha Magee of Biloxi, Mississippi; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Deacon James Magee will be on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 12:00 PM, at Little Providence Baptist Church,  21150 Highway 43, Picayune, Mississippi  39466, in the Catahoula Community.  Visitation will be at Little Providence Baptist Church from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  The repast will be in the fellowship hall of the Little Providence Baptist Church.
