Help others and spread some joy this festive season

The American Legion will host a professional wrestling event and a Santa’s workshop in the upcoming Saturdays. All the funds collected from both events will be donated to veterans who need financial help.

During this holiday season, there are many organizations that work towards bringing happiness to everyone in the community.

One example would be the Toys-for-Tots and their effort to give children toys as a Christmas present. Also, the Senior Center of Pearl River County is currently in the middle of its Adopt a Senior program where people can help a senior citizen by donating a $25 gift card from either Walmart or any local drug store. And I’m sure there are many other events that I might not be aware about where people have gathered together in an effort to bring happiness to citizens in Pearl River County.

While we all love getting presents, whether we’re celebrating the holiday season, a birthday, an anniversary or any other event, let’s not forget to give back, whether that’s by donating a present to a child or by helping a fellow citizen financially or by any other method. Many of us are planning on enjoying the holidays with friends and family and if we are, we know that it’s a good feeling to be surrounded by our loved ones. At the same time, there are many individuals who might not get that opportunity, due to different reasons. Some might include that they live far away from relatives and are unable to visit them or they might not have any family to visit at all.

In order to bring happiness to them, let’s do anything within our power to help them enjoy a happy holiday season and show them that there is someone out there that cares for them.
