Investigators with the Picayune Police Department are looking into complaints of a shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon on Morris Street.

Officers were dispatched to 2100 block in reference to shots being fired at 4:28 p.m. that day, Picayune Police Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

The incident allegedly involved two victims who were sitting inside their car when another vehicle pulled up next to them. At that time the occupants of both vehicles started talking with one another. After a couple of minutes, a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Rumeal Foster of 922 Jackson Landing Rd., turned onto Morris Street and waited for the car in front of him to move, so he could continue down the road.

After waiting for a couple of minutes, the vehicle blocking Foster’s path left. When Foster drove by the two victims sitting in the remaining car, he initiated a verbal altercation, Magri said..

During the verbal altercation, Foster allegedly pulled a pistol out of his trunk and shot in the direction of the two victims, and into the victim’s rear passenger window. The vehicle was unoccupied by that time, Magri said.

During the altercation, one of the victims used a baseball bat from their trunk to break out several windows of Foster’s car.

After the altercation occurred, one of the victims called 911 and Foster left the scene.

When detectives arrived, two bullet casings were recovered, allegedly shot from Foster’s pistol, Magri said.

Searches of the area for Foster have so far been unsuccessful.

Currently, a warrant for Foster is out for his arrest on two counts of aggravated assault, Magri said.
